Chalkboard Fun

For the past couple of months I've been very eager to turn a wall in my house into a chalkboard and magnet wall. I stumbled upon this brilliant idea after visiting a family friend who has the most adorable triplet girls. Like any other mom, her need for organization, lists and sanity are tripled so she devoted an entire wall in her kitchen to serving as a chalkboard and magnet wall! It was the cutest thing and I loved the idea of not having the clutter on your fridge, not to mention stainless steel appliances won't allow it. So I was determined to get one. Given she has a lovely house w. ample wall space and I have a condo I knew finding the right space would be a bit tricky. After consulting with a few designer friends and my sister they scared me away from the idea. Sometimes the black paint, even after 20 coats of primer, still manages to show though. And the fact that depending on the wall it could make the room or that area of a room dark and dim. The scare factor worked...as much as I wanted that chalkboard wall they scared me enough not to try it. But I didn't give up. After months of searching I finally found a perfect solution for condo-owning chalkboard lovers! Spell It Out Deisigns is a store on Etsy that sells all kinds of different shaped chalkboard decals. They give you a quick and easy alternative to painting a wall with the same effects as a chalkboard. AND it's not permanent. So once I decided on the right decal to go w. the rest of my decor I picked a wall and bought the thing. It arrived yesterday and I was so anxious to put it up. Applying the decal took about 2 minutes once you have it centered and right where you want it, but I would recommend a partner to help you peel it off.

And voila! I now have my very own cute and fun chalkboard. Fun, easy, and temporary! Check out Spell It Out Designs' store here for more chalkboard designs, including initials!
